Treatment for Bad Breath

To treat halitosis, we will conduct a medical history and exam as part of our general dental care in order to identify its cause. Treatment may require nothing more than adjusting personal habits (e.g. smoking) or dietary intake. In the case of illness, if diagnostics tests indicate, it may be necessary to refer you to your physician. During your visit, Dr. Peng may ask for some history, and particulars such as how long the effects have been evident, what foods you commonly eat, etc. He will address and treat any oral hygiene or mouth infections he finds, and will advise on how to avoid them.

Usually, halitosis can be corrected with a strict regimen of personal oral hygiene and/or a change in your diet. Regular brushing of your teeth, gums and tongue as well as flossing will generally improve the condition. If the problem persists, consult your dentist.

Your Riverstone Dental team can provide you home care remedies and some dietary suggestions that will help you avoid halitosis in the future. Contact our office today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Peng.
